Position Overview: This position supports the Product Development program with continuous production and/or improvement of new and existing products consistent with company strategy, commitments, and goals as well as innovation commercialization. Duties and Responsibility: Spends 50-60% of time in the test kitchen preparing product. Responsible for cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of the test kitchen. Research and catalogs new ideas, inspiration from other chains, trends, replacing problem ingredients in existing recipes, and creating new ideas for inventory. Oversees the study of competitive products that may be in direct competition with Papa Murphy's Supports new product development across all segments of the business and as dictated by the PMI product pipeline. Researches and catalogs new ideas, inspiration from other chains, and recognized trends to create new ideas for exploration. Assists with new product research including but not limited to assembling new product for baking off in test kitchen, sampling new products, and assisting in gathering focus group data and opinions on proposed new products. Develops and communicates New Product Recipe Cards and prepares food cost calculations. Assists with Franchise Advisory Board, executive lunches and other PMI food functions, providing an opportunity to test new products. Helps with hosting vendors and assist in showing new products and ideas. Assists with photo styling that includes running footage, simultaneous still photography, product photo shoot for website development, and training video shoots. Also includes house photo shoots for test products. Style, make, and bake products using appropriate props. Provides information to the Operations and Training Departments about the effectiveness of new product operations and production procedures through test kitchen and in-store observations. Participate in specification tests on new and existing products and store operations procedures. Performs and summarizes routine product testing of currently approved ingredients. Works cross functionally to provide product knowledge and consultation. What we bring to the table: Salary range: $36.00-$45.00 hourly. Able to regularly lift and/or move 25-30 pounds. Must be able to reach with hands and arms and possess strong hand agility. Ability to maintain regular attendance. Must have strong self-direction, capable knowledge of food production and quality systems. Requires strong planning, organizational, and analytical problem solving capability. Must be able to communicate effectively through verbal and written form. Must be able to travel by air and ground. Must be an active listener and team player with a positive outlook and can do attitude. Requires the ability to approach challenges from a problem solving perspective; to reason and make sound decisions. Must have the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Able to maintain positive relationships with vendors, franchisees and staff. Foundations of your career: High School diploma or GED. College degree preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in product development or at least 3 years of experience as a Chef.
