Provides comprehensive research and analysis of criminal data received by Criminal Intelligence Analysts and case Investigators to gather new information and/or to discover criminal relationships. Research organized crime patterns and/or drug trafficking networks. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific DutiesAssociate degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Science, Statistics, or a closely related field required.
Years & Experience RequiredA minimum of two years of experience as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst. A minimum of four years of related experience in law enforcement or a position requiring analytical and practical skills relevant to criminal investigations and intelligence work.
Knowledge & Skills RequiredAdvanced knowledge of business intelligence tools, databases, and statistical methods used in criminal intelligence analysis. Proficient understanding of police terminology, uniform crime report codes, and penal codes. Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data and make strategic recommendations based on findings. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of producing clear, concise reports and presenting findings effectively. Knowledge of subpoena processes and legal frameworks for intelligence gathering. Certification in Criminal Intelligence Analysis or related fields (e.g., International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA) certification) or Other relevant certifications in law enforcement or intelligence analysis preferred.
This position requires a background check. Common disqualifiers include, but are not limited to:
Class A or Felony conviction or court-ordered supervision or probation regardless of date of conviction.
Class B conviction or court-ordered supervision or probation within the past 10 years.
