Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Events and Engagement Manager works with Opera staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers to create and implement events for donors, subscribers, and the general public; identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward select corporate, in-kind, and individual prospects and donors; and manage volunteers.
We seek someone who wishes to grow as a fundraiser, serve a renowned and beloved cultural institution, and who will value those who cherish it through patron engagement and events. The person in this role develops, curates, and implements sophisticated, elevated, and imaginative events and gatherings that create community and center San Diego Opera while creating a welcoming, inclusive, and fun atmosphere for all while engaging with donors of all levels. San Diego Opera is currently in-office four days a week with an optional work-from-home day.
A minimum of two years’ experience managing events for a nonprofit organization or equivalent experience in hotel or restaurant hospitality with some experience at a nonprofit organization. Able to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Access to transportation for off-site events, shopping, and meetings. Evening and weekend work required.
