JOB DESCRIPTION
Insight Global is seeking an Archaeologist/Crew Chief to join their team for a contract project in Bismarck, ND and is expected to frequently travel for fieldwork within the region. This resource will conduct construction monitoring as well as associated documentation and coordination with the purpose of National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 106 compliance or related due diligence efforts. Proven experience in inventory, testing, and excavation, and as well as construction monitoring in the Northern Great Plains will be essential. The successful candidate must be detail oriented with strong oral and written communication skills. This team member will have minimal to no contact with regulatory agencies and tribes, and will have regular contact with onsite clients. This resource will be supporting a team to provide field survey’s, research, and excavations ahead of construction project. You’ll be responsible for making records of structure, fabric, and condition as well as monitoring and recording excavation works to preserve archaeological finds. You’ll assess aerial photography and historical records to identify locations for potential dig sites, record and reduce.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 3-10s years of experience as an archaeologist, anthropology or cultural resource management
- Construction site experience
- Experience conducting field survey’s, research, and excavations ahead and during construction projects
- Ability to travel in North Dakota and South Dakota
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Understanding of NHPA Section 106
- Must have valid driver’s license and operate 4-wheel drive vehicle
- Must be able to walk 5-10 miles per day
