Thinkpath Engineering Services is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to fill an opportunity with a client located in Saint Thomas, ON. This will initially be a long-term contract of 1 year, with strong potential to become a direct position.

Job Description

• Responsible for the design and analysis of vehicle structures, as well as sub systems on mobile equipment, primarily cranes and trains, which include mechanical, hydraulic, driveline and electrical systems.
• Mechanical design of mobile equipment including, but not limited to, driveline, suspension, steering, and braking.
• Design steel structures and conduct stress analysis as required.
• Detail design of mechanical systems in SolidWorks.
• Coordinate and be responsible for mechanical engineering drawings and specifications, Project Managing and/or working within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Investigate, respond, and implement corrective action to Production, supplier, and field issues.
• Develop plans and estimates for future projects (ROMs, BOEs, project plans and informal estimates)
• Lead design reviews.
• Perform analysis and testing of mechanical systems to identify areas for improvement.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Advanced understanding of steel structure design, mobile machinery experience preferred.
• Strong fundamental understanding of mechanical systems, and their related control systems.
• Hydraulics understanding is required, but expertise is preferred.
• Driveline experience is an asset.
• Strong project management skills to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
• SolidWorks is preferred, but not mandatory.
• P. Eng or equivalent technical and design experience is preferred.
