Program Director – Learning to Work at Arts & Business High School About Queens Community House (QCH)

Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-service organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families across Queens. Through a variety of programs, we support children, youth, families, and older adults, fostering inclusive and thriving communities.

We seek dynamic individuals who are inspired by our mission and driven to make a meaningful impact.

Position Overview

About the Program:
The Learning to Work (LTW) initiative is a partnership between the NYC Department of Education and community-based organizations to support over-age, under-credited students in earning a high school diploma while developing college and career readiness. The program offers case management, academic support, postsecondary planning, career exploration, and paid internships.

Position Summary:
Queens Community House is seeking a qualified and mission-driven Program Director with a strong commitment to youth development and equity in education. The LTW Program Director at Arts & Business High School YABC is responsible for the overall administration and supervision of the program’s day-to-day operations. The Director will lead program planning, implementation, staff supervision, data tracking, compliance, and continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and professional development to LTW staff through regular one-on-one and team meetings to ensure high-quality service delivery and compliance with program goals.
  • Collaborate with QCH leadership and school administration to align program goals with school-wide initiatives and student needs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the NYCDOE Office of Student Pathways; attend funder meetings, respond to requests, and ensure program compliance with all DOE expectations.
  • Oversee day-to-day program operations, including student recruitment, enrollment, academic support, case management, and postsecondary planning.
  • Review and analyze program data (attendance, outcomes, case notes, etc.) on a bi-monthly basis to inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of services, goals, and student progress using Salesforce and other required systems.
  • Support staff in identifying and addressing barriers to student enrollment, retention, and matriculation, and work with partners to resolve issues.
  • Manage program budget, including tracking expenditures, processing petty cash, and overseeing incentive distribution.
  • Lead the development and execution of college access and retention strategies, including FAFSA/TAP completion, CUNY enrollment processes, and student support services navigation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with CUNY campuses, college access partners, and key departments (Admissions, Financial Aid, Opportunity Programs, etc.).
  • Coordinate and promote program events such as orientations, student/alumni panels, cultural outings, and college/career fairs.
  • Oversee program communication strategies, including branding and social media presence.
  • Complete narrative reports and other materials for internal and external stakeholders as required by funders.
  • Participate in agency-wide and DOE meetings, training sessions, and collaborative planning efforts with LTW peers across QCH sites.
  • Promote and uphold QCH’s mission, vision, and youth development values in all aspects of the work.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in education, social work, counseling, public administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of youth development or educational leadership experience, with a strong understanding of the alternative school setting.
  • Proven experience supervising staff and managing program operations, including familiarity with DOE systems.
  • Strong knowledge of postsecondary access, workforce readiness, and student support services.
  • Experience working with opportunity youth and communities of color in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed manner.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Salesforce (or similar data tracking systems).
  • Commitment to QCH’s mission of building strong, inclusive communities.
